Langley with Hardley Village Hall - The Past and Present.
The Past. In 1977 the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, along with many other towns and villages, Langley with Hardley decided to have a street party to celebrate the event and after raising some money, the party went ahead. Villagers decided that if they could raise money for a street party they should be able to raise enough money to build a Village Hall. Fund raising started in earnest and in 1981 enough money had been raised to purchase a redundant American cedar wood school, which was erected on the site where it now stands. After much hard work by local volunteers the hall was opened in August 1981. Initially well used, in latter years interest waned and the hall was under-used.
The Present. During the middle of 2018 a new committee was elected. They are keen to make the hall a centre for the community with events and regular bar openings and would encourage local residents to start new social events or groups with varying interests so that it is used to its maximum potential.
